Sunshine Sunday

Have I ever told you I have an amazing husband?  Well today I am going to tell you a little about my amazing husband.  So, feel free to skip this post if you would like.

My husband is amazing.  I am so blessed to have him in my life.  He is seriously my best friend and I don't know where I would be without him.  He is continually sacrificing so that our family can have a better life.  He is carefree and hardly ever mad, and I think that is why we get along so well.  He is also a handyman.  This has come in "handy" so many times.  Not only does it save us money because he fixes things around our house, but it also earns us money.  I like to volunteer my husband for lots of things.  Just recently this weekend, someone needed help laying some wood floors and so I enlisted my husband and it brought us some much needed extra money.  Luckily he always does it without complaining, I think because he loves me. :)  Ok enough about my cute amazing husband.  I am truly blessed to have him in my life!

The Blessings of Food Storage

Growing up I have always been taught that it would be beneficial to keep a food storage in case of emergency.  We have been counseled by leaders of our church to have a 72 hour kit on hand, as well as a longer supply of food in case of a natural disaster.  You can read a little bit more about it here.

I have never been great at it.  I mean my food storage is nowhere near where it should be. But I do try, when I remember, to slowly stock up when things are on sale, etc.  These last couple months have been hard on our finances.  I had a ridiculously painful ear infection, we had terrible insurance, and I think we ended up paying about $500 for my doctor's visits, medications etc.  About the same time, Kenz came down with a terrible cough, in turn her doctor's visits, ER visits, and medications cost us about $150.  We are by no means rich, and are often living paycheck to paycheck, so you can imagine how this set us back.  Ever since, I have been trying to play catch up as I make up for the bills that did not get paid that month.  It has been tough, to say the least.  The past couple of weeks, we have been broke. It has been a long time since I remember being this broke.  Anyway, there were many days where we had no money and what I thought was no food.  This is where food storage came in.

Like I said my food storage is not extravagant, but I did have some shells and pasta sauce, some random vegetables, and other odds and ends.  Let me tell you, sometimes I had to be really creative, and I wondered what in the world I was eating.  But when you are hungry, you will eat anything.  Although I obviously could have gone to my parents, or several friends and they would have offered me food, I felt blessed to know that I had enough food storage to keep us fed for a few weeks.  I will now have to start building it back up, but that is what it is for right.  I am blessed that I have been taught this principle and I have seen the effects of it first hand.  I am glad it wasn't a natural disaster that caused me to use it, but there are more simple reasons too.

If you do not have a back up supply of food, I encourage you to start. Start small, buying a few things every time you go to the grocery store.  Trust me, you won't regret it.

Something to think about...

Liebster Award

This past week I was nominated by two different fabulous ladies, Riss Bliss at Tisfortownsend and Ashley at Dashing Tales. Let me tell you I had NO idea what the Liebster award was or meant, so here is a definition for all of us:

"The Liebster award is given to upcoming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome."- Adrian

Aww how sweet. So thank you ladies for your thoughtfulness!!

So here are the rules for the Liebster Award.

1: Answer the questions that the tagger set for you PLUS create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
2: Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
3: Go to their page and tell them
4: No tag backs

Because I was tagged by 2 different people I am going to mix questions in order to cover everything. ok. ready. go.

1: What's your favorite color?
Depends on the day. I am normally a bright person. So any bright pink, orange, yellow etc. But I am also a sucker for purple. So I guess the answer is undecided.

2: Why and How did you decide on your blog name?
Well I have a pretty lame blog name as I have not though of something cool yet. So it's pretty simple, I live in the Lindholm Life. These are stories of my life and the people in it. Bam.

3: Where do you live? Tell me more.
I live in Gilbert, AZ and I love it. Except for the unbearably hot summers. Thankfully the fall/semi-winter make up for it. My sis-in-law and I always joke that we will be snow birds young. Live in Utah in the winter and Arizona in the summer. Seems like a plan to me!

4: What are my pet peeves.
Rude people. People that feel they are entitled or better than you. Lazy people. Inconsiderate people. Ok...maybe I should stop now.

5: What is one personal item you can not live without (this question happen to be the same for each person).
This is such a hard question for me. But I would have to say photos and my scrapbooks. Those little memories frozen in time. I could not live without those. I love to look back at pictures and bring back those memories. It is the best.

6: If you could pick one place to live in the world, no limit, where would it be.
Foreign: Prague, Czech Republic. I have always heard it is so pretty and would love to live there.
Stateside: Utah...but if we are putting no limits. I would have to say Rhode Island, Massachusetts, one of the New England States.

7: Favorite Hobby.
Crafting and blogging. Although I never have time for either, when I do, it is very therapeutic and I can often clear my mind when doing it.

8: What made you want to start blogging.
Like I said in the previous question I find it very therapeutic. I find it as a great way to clear my head. I also have always been interested in journaling but never really got into the whole writing everything down. This is a much easier way to do it, and it also keeps friends and family in the loop.
9: If you were an animal which would you be.
Hmm....this is a hard question. I have never really though about it....I would have to say a giraffe.

10: Biggest obstacle in blogging.
Finding the time, and getting my mojo going. I can't blog unless I am in the write mood, and sometimes it is hard to get there.

11: Most embarrassing moment.
There are too many to count!

10: Coryn at House of Payne

And here are your questions.

2: How did you come up with your blog name?

4: What's your biggest fear?
5: Happiest moment so far?

8: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 things would you want with you?

Slacker, Slacker, Slacker

Ok I know, I have been a total slacker.  Truth is I just don't have the time or energy to blog.  There has been tons of fun happening, I just don't feel like taking the time to upload pictures and blog about it and since my husband is now working opposite shifts than me, it is a little harder with miss k who is always trying to "help" me.  Anyways....a quick update.

After our trip to Fish Lake we came home for four days and then I packed Kenz and I back up to head back to Utah for my family reunion.  We were there for a week over the fourth of July.

Happy Fourth of July!

It was so nice to get a away to and just relax.  Utah is my favorite place to vacation.  I love the scenery, the weather, the laid back feel, I just love everything about it.  It was also nice to spend a week with my grandma, and for Kenz to be able to spend that time with her.  They were best buds.  While in Utah we did lots of fun things.  We went on a picnic and to a small zoo in Logan.

Holding Uncle Sky's hand heading to the zoo.

Her favorite animal was the ducks.  So strange haha, she just wanted to watch them the whole time.  Everything else scared her.  She also loved spending time with her Uncle Sky, she things he is a pretty neat guy.

We also got to watch fireworks in Brigham City.  Kenz was not a fan.  She screamed and cried.  Eventually my mom got her to sleep (I don't know how she slept through them because we were pretty much right under them) but the show was awesome and it was nice to be so close but not have a huge crowd.

Here are a few more random pictures from the trip.

Love her expression in this photo. So cute!

No pictures please.

Waiting for fireworks, eating pringles.

The beautiful Howell Valley

Kenz got new shoes while we were there. I love them!

The sign leading into the valley my Grandma lives in.  I love it!
