I'll never understand....

I will never understand how someone could hurt a face like this:

I have always had a soft heart. Sometimes too soft. My mom says when I was younger all she had to do was give me the "look" and I that would be enough to let me know whatever I had done was unacceptable. Let's face it, if you know me you know I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am definitely emotional, just ask my husband or my family. I remember growing up I wanted to be a social worker. Then decided against it because I would have 100 children and wouldn't be able to handle the situations that I would find most kids in. Which brings me to my topic.

Why is it that lately I have heard more stories about child abuse than I can count on one hand. So sad. I have always loved kids, their sweet spirits are ones that cannot be matched. They are so innocent and full of an unconditional love that I wish more people in this world had. They are precious beings given to you from a loving God. You are all they know. They love you with all their heart. They TRUST you to take care of them, feed them, change their diapers, keep them safe etc. Every time I see a story of a poor baby who has passed away due to their parents shaking them too hard, leaving them in a HOT car (come on people it's 115 degrees outside, would you want to be left inside a car for 40 min, absolutely not, what makes you think your child (or animal) does! Sorry that's another tangent in itself.), being hit, kicked, burned with cigarettes, oh and the newest one, a mom blew marijuana smoke in her child's mouth because the baby wouldn't stop crying (really? so sad), I just feel the worst pain. My heart aches for that little child who trusts you and loves you with everything they have. Then I think of those moms who would give ANYTHING literally ANYTHING to have a baby because they don't have the ability. I can't imagine what is going through their heads as they witness the abuse of a child that they would give anything to love. Why can't people be smarter and more caring? I can not stand hearing these stories. I know being a mother is not easy, trust me. There have been times that I could not get Kenzi to stop crying no matter what I tried, so we cried together as I sent my mom a text asking for help. No matter how it bad it gets there is someone to help you! Even if you need to put your child in their crib for a few minutes while you compose yourself. Please spread the word, children should not be abused. It just breaks my heart. What precious beings they are, they don't deserve that at all.

I Love You This Big

I know I'm still young
But, I know how I feel
I might not have too much experience
But, I know when love is real.

By the way my heart starts pounding
When I look into your eyes
I might look a little silly
Standing with my arms stretched open wide.

I love you this big
Eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big

I'll love you to the moon and back
I'll love you all the time
Deeper than the ocean
And higher than the pines.

Cause girl, you do something to me
Deep down in my heart
I know I look a little crazy
Standing with my arms stretched all apart.

I love you this big
Eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big

So much bigger than I ever dreamed my heart ever would
I love you this big
And I'd write your name in stars across the sky
If I could, I would

I love you this big
Oh, eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big

This Girl

Turned 5 months old yesterday! Can you believe it? Where has time gone? I cannot believe my little baby girl is growing so big! This is her in her new (borrowed) bouncer, thanks to Aunt Charnae and Uncle Ryan, she absolutely loves it! She has figured how to rotate herself around to get to all the toys. She definitely is a great baby. She hardly ever cries, does great in childcare all day long, and doesn't need to be held all the time (although she is so spoiled that she is held often).

We introduced her to swimming recently and she loves it! We bought her a tiny whale pool and she kicks and splashes around. When we take her in a regular pool she cannot contain her excitement and my face is usually soaked from her splashing. Here are just a few pics of her first swimming adventure.

This is our favorite, we call it the "KISS" picture. We wonder if she is related to Gene Simmons.... :)

We are sure thankful for our baby girl! I have no idea what life would be like without her. She makes life fun and interesting. Her smile lights up our whole life.
